Summary

Carta Drogonis, de Sancto Gervasio et Sancto Andrea subtus Arelate

Prevenit divini numinis clemencia, Manassess, sancte Arelatensis ecclesie humilis archiepiscopus, omnibus ecclesie sue filiis. Noverit industria fidelium universorum qualiter veniens venerabilis vir Drogo, Massiliensis episcopus, cum lacrimabili gemitu adiit presentiam nostram, singultuoso planctu canonicos sue ecclesie propter continuos Sarracenorum impetus suis in locis manere non posse conquestus, utque nostri sufragii fulcro sustentari videretur oportunum se, tam nostris quam fidelium nostrorum auribus lacrimabili ingessit voci . … Igilur apostolice memores sentencie qua dicit: ≪ Si quid patitur unum membrum, compatiuntur omnia membra, ≫ tacti dolore cordis intrinsecus fraternitatis ejus precibus favorem atque consensum prebuimus. Precatus est itaque ut aliquod suplementum, quod esset juris ecclesiȩ nostre, ei concederemus, unde victum et vestimentum tam ipse quam filii ecclesie sue, utriusque videlicet sexus, servi hac liberi, habere potuissent, scilicet abbatiam Sancti Andree sitam in territorio urbis Arelatensis, in insula Camaricas, super flumen Rodani, in villas … … …; in castro quod vocatur Fosses, ecclesiam in honore sancti Salvatoris, cum ecclesiis sibi adjacentibus. Itaque inclinati precibus incliti ac piissimi principis et avunculi nostri Hugonis, illud consideravimus beati evangeliste: ≪ Si quis habuerit substantinm et viderit fratrem suum necesse abere, et clauserit Viscera sua ab eo, quomodo caritas Dei manet in eo?
