Summary
Thomas Böcker is a concert producer specializing in staging orchestral concerts of video game music. After initially working as a producer, music director and music consultant in the game industry (on titles such as Cold Zero – The Last Stand, Knights of the Temple and Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl), Böcker was responsible for the first commercial concerts of video game music outside Japan, encouraging some of the highest profile orchestras to embrace the genre alongside their more traditional repertoire. Here, he recounts the history of the concerts, explains his approach to designing the events, and reflects on their cultural context.
