Summary
picking this postcard
I recall what you told me
about Mondrian
that he hated green
so deeply
he cut off friends
who disagreed
remembering this is
almost to be with you
passing through
doorless openings
to locate
a familiar piece
the truth is
it is simple
but it must be arranged
on trains
I always think
of you and how I read
that Piet although
he hated green
was moved by
rural scenery
when seen from
a moving train
but only because
of the way
the telegraph poles
intersect the landscape
yet this is only
a recollection
of what his friend
thought and that
itself in writing
to another friend
see how we must
cut away at the world
till we get to the fact
get back go back
directions are
a sort of simplification
if you follow me
to a room with
a vacant bench
and a masterpiece
it is basic primary
it's simple
we must find
ways to meet
