Agata lives in Bieszczady with her parents, husband Artur and child. Taking

advantage of new markets in the EU, she is a certified organic farmer and is

building an inn for tourists.

Agnieszka balances employment as a librarian with motherhood and weekend classes to complete her university degree. She lives in Lesko with her husband and children.

Aneta has held a number of positions in the film and television industry. She has lived in her native Krakow, in Warsaw and in the US.

Ania is an artist who lives and works in her native Krakow. She has one child.

Artur is a native of Silesia who lives with his wife Agata's family in Bieszczady.

Bartek is a teacher from Lesko who also loves hiking and works as a mountain tour guide. He and his wife have two children.

Basia was raised in Lesko, but moved to Warsaw after studying at one of the first private business schools in postcommunist Poland. She works for a multinational corporation, and loves to take business trips and vacations to other countries.

Beata left her native Bieszczady after high school to join her mother in the US. Eventually her husband Janek obtained a permanent visa and joined her. They have one child.

Bogdan is a Euroskeptic who works as a civil servant in a town near his native Bieszczady. He lives in an extended family household with his in-laws, wife and children.

Darek grew up in a tiny Bieszczady village but he and his wife live in a town where he works as a nurse. He also has a successful band that performs at folk festivals and weddings. Darek's sense of identity is profoundly shaped by the fact that his father is Ukrainian.

Dominik, a business owner, lives in Krakow with his wife Ewelina and their children.

Dorota lives in England with her husband and children. She worked in England during summers while attending university, but became a longterm resident after failing to find a job with a reasonable salary in her native Bieszczady.

Ewelina lives in her native Krakow with her husband and their children. She is a lawyer and her husband Dominik owns a private business. They attribute their financial success to their entrepreneurialism and work ethic, which have been rewarded in the neoliberal economy.
