Summary
What was the Renaissance understanding of the intersection of architecture, the senses, and the imagination? This chapter explores a range of historical and contemporary theoretical approaches to consider the relationship between the external environment and subjective experience, and concludes with the discussion of two seminal early modern texts on the psychology of space, the Hypnerotomachia Poliphili of 1499 and La Petite Maison of 1758.
