Summary
In this chapter I run a national experiment where Irandomly induced either generalized/apolitical anger or political anger into subjects. The results show that anger has a causal effect on lowering trust in government. However, I show that the effect of apolitical anger on lowering governmental trust is stronger than that of political anger. This suggests that the magnitude, rather than the source, is the most important part of anger’s ability to lower trust in government.
