Summary
This appendix lists resources that can be useful as you pursue your own corpus-based investigations. The appendix consists of three main sections: corpora, analytical tools, and on-line resources. The list of corpora is divided into categories (e.g., written, spoken, historical), with corpora arranged alphabetically within each category. This list also notes whether the corpus is composed of American English (AE) or British English (BE) texts, along with the approximate number of words. The list of tools is also arranged alphabetically, with a brief description of each tool. For both corpora and tools, addresses to contact are provided at the end of the entry.
The World Wide Web is also becoming a productive source of corpora and tools, and several useful nodes on the Web are listed under “On-line sources.” New sources are constantly being added, so interested readers should periodically search the web for new sites.
