In the above Editorial (Hussain, M., Fishman, J., & Fisher, E. Reference Hussain, Fishman and Fisher2019), the words “have become important” were omitted from the first paragraph. The correct sentence should read:

“The inception of the World Health Organization check list has transformed the way surgeons operate around the world. The emphasis has hitherto been on in-patient procedures, with the increase in out-patient based operative procedures in the British Isles check lists to avoid errors have become important.”

The publishers apologise for this error.
