A themed Supplement on Encephalitis, including zoonotic aspects, is planned on this topical, and increasingly, important subject. We invite our readers to submit original, short or review papers on encephalitis.
Although papers on any aspect of the epidemiology of encephalitis are welcome, we are looking particularly for papers on aetiology, clinical experience and burden in different countries, basic epidemiological studies on encephalitis, clinical and outbreak management of the infection, and zoonotic aspects of encephalitis.
Authors should submit manuscripts to the editorial office online by November 2010. The edition will have a proposed online publication date of March/April 2011 and a printed edition date a little later in 2011. Dr Mark Zuckerman is the overall Editor for this issue, probably with one or more Co-Editors. All papers submitted will be assessed initially by one of the Co-Editors and if suitable, by independent reviewers.
Papers should, however, be sent to the Editor-in-Chief in the usual way. They should be clearly specified as being for the encephalitis issue. To save time, please ensure our house style, particularly for references, is followed.

We look forward to receiving papers on this important subject.
