A major new website for mental health was launched in February 2001: http://www.emental-health.com. This is one of the first sites to provide research-based information for a general audience and should prove useful to both mental health professionals and service users. The opinion-based content of the site and the discussion boards offer a ‘virtual meeting place’ where hot topics can be debated and advice and support obtained. In conjunction with The Royal College of Psychiatrists' Changing Minds: Every Family in the Land campaign, emental-health.com aims to challenge the stigma of mental illness. It also promises to be a useful resource for anyone wanting to find out more about schizophrenia, depression, Alzheimer's disease and bipolar disorder.
