Someone's switched off the sunlight; my river's run dry. Amber streaks the velvet darkness; there's no echo to my call.

A loved one craves affection; there's no reaching her' I've forgotten the language: mute messenger of love!

Peter Wells is a psychiatrist who worked with disturbed young people for over 25 years. Two of his poems have been published as ‘Extras’, Strategy (November 2010) and Scored (July 2011). © 2012 Peter Wells.
