First published in 1993, the European Review is now in its 30th year. Despite still being fairly young as scholarly publications go, it is already a respected and reputable journal. Published on behalf of Academia Europaea, the Review reflects the interdisciplinary nature and diversity of the Academy. As such, it attracts high-quality publications submitted both by Academia Europaea members and by the scholarly community at large. Under the leadership of its previous Editor-in-Chief, Theo D’haen, European Review has seen a significant increase in its impact factor and has transitioned to a full (double blind) peer-review model for all unsolicited submissions.

Having worked as Associate Editor with Theo and contributed to these changes over the past years, I have always appreciated his mentorship and guidance. It will be a challenge, but also a great pleasure, to follow in his footsteps as Editor-in-Chief. I thank the President and the Board of Trustees of Academia Europaea for the trust they have placed in me by appointing me as new Editor-in-Chief of European Review. I pledge to make it my first priority to secure and expand the Review’s position as a top interdisciplinary scholarly journal. My team of Associate Editors and I look forward to receiving submissions of many insightful, innovative and inspiring articles from Academy members and other scholars alike.
