Nadia Brown, (RBSI Class of 2003) assistant professor of political science and African American Studies, Purdue University, recently published the following articles examining the intersection of gender and race: “Political Participation of Women of Color: An Intersectional Analysis” (Journal of Women, Politics & Policy 35 (4): 315–48) and “It’s More Than Hair…And You Do Care: The Politics of Appearance for Black Women State Legislators.” (Politics, Groups, and Identities 2(3), 295–312).

Olivia Garcia (MFP, 2003–2004) became an adjunct faculty professor in the political science department and the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Florida in 2014. Olivia is also the director of the Institute of Hispanic and Latino Cultures, which is a part of the Division of Student Affairs and the department of Multicultural and Diversity Affairs at the University of Florida.

Wellinton Garcia (RBSI Class of 2003) recently presented a paper titled “Perspectives on ‘Afro-Latino’ Identity: An Exploratory Study of Educational Leaders” at the 28th Annual University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA) convention in Washington, DC. Garcia is pursuing a doctorate in Education Leadership and Policy at Hofstra University and is currently an assistant principal at the Elmont Union Free School District on Long Island.

Sergio Sanchez (MFP, 2014–2015) has published an article in International Journal of Intelligence and Counter Intelligence, entitled “Spider Web: Al-Qaeda’s Link to the Intelligence Agencies of the Major Powers” (DOI: 10.1080/08850607.2015.992753). Sergio will begin his doctoral studies in fall of 2015.

Betina Cutaia Wilkinson (MFP, 2007–2008) recently published a work titled “Perceptions of Commonality and Latino-Black, Latino-White Relations in a Multiethnic US” in Political Research Quarterly 67(4): 905-916. Betina is an assistant professor at Wake Forest University.
