In this eighty-fifth volume of the journal, we mark a transition in our editorial team. Karin Barber has edited the journal since 2007 – initially as co-editor with Richard Fardon, then as sole editor, and for the past five years with David Pratten. During this time, Karin has overseen the journal's change of publisher to Cambridge University Press, helped pioneer early career writing workshops, and enhanced the journal's scope and standing. She also introduced the ‘local intellectuals' strand to the journal and will be developing this initiative as its dedicated editor. It is with affection and gratitude that we acknowledge her significant contribution to the journal and the field it represents.
