Maintenance and Use of Controlled Environment Chambers

Abstract

This work is an endeavor to aid researchers located in remote areas as well as researchers who may have experienced difficulties in the regulation of controlled environment chambers. Descriptions of the maintenance and use of controlled environment chambers contained herein were compiled over an 8-year period of experience with four chambers. Although the physical characteristics of the controlled environment chambers described are dissimilar from many, the causes and remedies of malfunctions are general and typical of those found in many controlled environment chambers. Several protective devices for expensive equipment are described as well as several common malfunctions and their remedies.
