Many speakers preface their remarks to a group such as this with the statement, “I am most happy to be here, and have the opportunity to discuss with you…”. I have deliberately avoided that opening remark in most talks, but in this case that bit of rhetoric is appropriate. I am indeed most happy to once again address that professional society with which I have been most closely and most happily associated.
