Abstract
The aim of this paper is to define a linear model of aplanar standing wave ultrasonic motor (SWUM). First, the analyticalapproach using the variational formulation is presented. Anidentification method is deduced to find the parameters of avibrating rectangular plate. Non-linearities are also emphasized andverified by the experimental measurements. Secondly, the mechanicalenergy conversion of the actuator is identified, using an averagebehavior modelling and a linear approach for the contactinteraction. Finally, a complete modelling of the actuator ispresented, using the Causal Ordering Graph formalism.
