Introduction

As this Special Collection goes to press, it is just over a year since the death of Tony Atkinson, pioneering and much loved theorist and methodologist of inequality research. This collection of articles and tributes provides a testimony to his enduring intellectual legacy, and to the love, respect and commitment to justice which he inspired.
