Amitriptyline hydrochloride (“Tryptizol”) is a new antidepressant with a predominant action on the central nervous system. It is 5-(3-di-methylaminopropylidene) - dibenzo (a,d) (1,4) cycloheptadiene hydrochloride, and is related chemically to imipramine.
