AIDS in New York City with Particular Reference to the Psycho-Social Aspects

The condition known as AIDS (Aquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) was first described by the Centre of Disease Control (CDC), Atlanta in June 1981. A subsequent nationwide survey soon revealed that similar cases had been occurring since 1979. At the time of writing, 3064 cases have been reported to the CDC of which 1,292 (42.2%) have died; 1,275 (41%) have occurred in New York City.
