1 Not quite as complete as the beautifully-produced 180-page programme-book implied, at least in Schoenberg's case. We heard only the first part of Ein Steildichein (cf. my review in Tempo 106); and since Der neue Klassizismus was performed, why not the string-quartet canon from the Anhang to op. 28? Other instrumental canons were also lacking, as was the early song with string quartet Es ist ein Flustern in die Nacht, the early pieces for piano duet, the chamber-ensemble version of four of the op. 16 orchestral pieces, and the arrangement of Strauss's Lagunenwalzer. The programme-book contains chronologies, programme-notes, song-texts, articles from many distinguished contributors, photographs, reproductions of mss., and lists of works, and is still available from the offices of the London Sinfonietta (33 Cholmley Gardens, Aldred Road, London NW 6).
