1 In addition to John Palmer's Conversations (with composers and musicians, Vision Edition, 2015, reviewed by Griffiths, Paul, TEMPO Vol. 69 No. 274 (2015), pp. 85–6CrossRefGoogle Scholar), OUP has recently published Robert Raines's turgid Composition in the Digital World: Conversations with 21st-Century American Composers (2015). However, Daniel Rachel's Isle of Noises: Conversations with Great British Songwriters (Picador, 2013), is a superb (albeit pop-cultural) survey with many creative themes which are eloquently explored.
