The Structure and Evolution of Dense Cores
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 13 May 2016
Abstract
A small fraction of the mass of a molecular cloud is in dense, gravitationally bound structures many of which eventually form stars. This paper reviews some of the important properties of these dense cores. Ideas about the formation of these cores are summarised and recent observational results on the structure and evolution of cores reviewed.
