Willliam Dugdale (see W. Dugdale Monasticon Anglicanum, ed. J. Caley, Sir H. Ellis, and B. Bandinel, 6 vols (1817–1830), VI.2, pp. 884–886) printed the royal confirmation, made at Lincoln on 20 February 1316, of fifty-five charters relating to Beauchief abbey, of which summaries were entered on the Patent Roll, 9 Edward II, p. 1 m. 3. Each item in this confirmation, reproduced here from Dugdale, is given a number so that, with the aid of the Concordance in Appendix III, corresponding items in the Cartulary and in the Confirmation of 1312 (38) can be found. Eighteen of the charters confirmed in 1316 are not recorded in the extant part of the Cartulary; of these an English summary is given.
