The Radiocarbon Dating Laboratory is installed in theDepartment of Geophysics and Geochemistry, Instituteof Advanced Studies of the Australian NationalUniversity. The Australian Institute of AboriginalStudies has materially aided the establishment ofthe laboratory and is allocated a major proportionof the dating time over the next three years forsamples in Australian Aboriginal archaeology. Beyondthis the laboratory is to serve research needswithin the University. To facilitate communicationbetween collectors and laboratory a handbook oncollection of specimens and interpretation ofresults has been prepared (Polach and Golson, 1966)and a radiocarbon sample record and an agedetermination sheet are in use.
