The journal asks big questions and pursues bold answers that combine rigorous peer-reviewed research with accessible writing. 

The journal welcomes humanities work from, though not limited to, the fields of Anthropology, Archaeology, Classics, Cultural Studies, Disability Studies, Ethnic Studies, Gender Studies, History, Law, Linguistics, Literary Studies, Performing Arts, Religious Studies, Philosophy, Postcolonial Studies, Queer Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Visual Arts, and Women's Studies.

Public Humanities invites submissions for its Of the Moment section, which addresses emerging and on-going topics in an accessible style for wide audiences. 

The Of the Moment section is our channel for open submissions. 

We are especially interested in:

  • Short articles
  • Profiles of public humanities practitioners or public figures
  • Empirical reports that convey data related to the humanities and public life
  • Policy briefs for people who hold the levers of power
  • New media forms such as infographics, photo essays, and comics
