1. Data for the 1994–98 period are taken from election-day polls conducted by Voter News Service, a consortium of six national news organizations (ABC News, CBS News, CNN, Fox News, NBC News, and the Associated Press). VNS data sets are archived at ICPSR (www.icpsr.umicri.edu) and The Roper Center (www.ropercenter.uconn.edu).
2. CBS News conducted its own exit polls from 1976 until 1988. All data sets from these surveys are available from ICPSR and The Roper Center.
3. From 1990 until 1992, exit polls were conducted by Voter Research and Surveys (VRS), a consortium of ABC News, CBS News, NBC News and CNN.
