page 198 note * In view of this paper Mr. R. C. Fisher sent an ovate Palæolithic implement for exhibition which he found on the surface at Hill Top, Midhurst, Sussex, in 1893. It measures 3½ inches in length by 2½ in breadth, and it is a little under an inch through at the thickest, part ; it is considerably patinated of a dirty yellowish-white colour, and somewhat water-worn (fig. 1). From its appearance it would seem to have been exposed on the surface for a considerable period.
