Marine benthic communities of the sound of Jura

Synopsis

Benthic communities, controlled predominantly by the environmental parameters of sediment type and hydrography, have been determined by computer cluster analysis and by reference to previously established offshore communities.

A gravel association floors much of the central and northern parts of the sound while a deep mud association is flanked by a muddy sand association in the south.
