page 357 note 1 Plates II and III pretend to show photographs of 19th-century excavations. Plate II, a, Kerlescant Gallery Grave, Carnac, is a picture of Z. Le Rouzic taken simply after some cleaning up of the monument towards 1900; but this grave had been opened by de Kerenflech before 1855, excavated a first time in 1858 by de Villemeureuil, re-excavated again by W. C. Lukis in 1868, badly damaged afterwards, and finally restored by F. Gaillard in 1887 and 1888. Plate III, a, showing the entrance of the angled Passage Grave of Le Rocher, commune of Le Bono (formerly Plougoumelen), during restoration work, is again a photograph of Z. Le Rouzic, on which one recognizes G. d'Ault du Mesnil and Ch. Keller, and dates from 1904 or 1905. The monument was excavated by Bain de la Coquerie in 1844.
