Blood measurements which can be taken on animals undergoing performance tests may be useful aids to selecting genetically superior animals. Possible useful measurements may be identified by correlated responses to selection, in selection experiments. This study investigates correlated responses in volatile fatty acids (VFAs) and blood metabolites, associated with growth and fat metabolism, in sheep selected for carcass lean content.
