Lameness of dairy cattle is an economic and welfare issue. This problem is the third most important health related economic loss facing the dairy industry, following fertility and mastitis. Lameness often follows a seasonal trend with an increase in lesions associated with laminitis appearing several weeks after some environmental hardship such as heat stress. Also healthy hooves are an important prerequisite for the welfare and productivity in dairy cow.
