The Closing Plenary was convened at 10:45 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2017, with opening remarks by Lucinda Low, President of the American Society of International Law. The moderator, Ernst Hirsch Ballin of the Asser Institute for International and European Law (The Hague, Netherlands), then introduced the panelists: Judge Christine van den Wyngaert of the International Criminal Court; Judge Bruno Simma of University of Michigan School of Law; Maurice Kamto of the Hague Academy of International Law; and Philip Alston of New York University School of Law. Saskia Bruines, Deputy Mayor of The Hague, gave remarks at the conclusion of the panel.
