1 Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 (19 U.S.C. § 2401 et seq.) provides authority for the U.S. government to investigate whether other governments are violating commitments under trade agreements. Among other things, Section 301 requires a unilateral decision by the U.S. if the multilateral dispute system has not reached a decision within twelve months.
