9 The Congolese themselves have held two conferences at which all factions but Gizenga (Lumumbist) were represented. At Tananarive, where Mr. Tshombe played the leading role, a confederation was agreed on; at Coquilhatville Mr. Kasavubu's influence led to the adoption of a tighter, federal solution.
