The APSA Research Department conducts research on the political science discipline, evaluates APSA’s programs, and supports members and departments with research needs. In addition to conducting surveys, the department occasionally supplements our data with publicly available federal or organizational datasets on higher education, including degree attainment, demographics, and employment statistics.

To access our data, visit our Data on the Profession page.

Datasets

The Research Department compiles datasets spanning enrollments, curricula, faculty compositions, employment trends, graduate placements, incoming cohorts, job postings, and demographic profiles of our membership base over successive periods. Anonymized versions of these datasets, denoted by the icons below, are available on the APSA website for members to download in Excel format.

Dashboards

Since August 2017, the Research Department has produced interactive data dashboards on APSA Membership, the Project on Women and Minorities (P-WAM), APSA’s Organized Sections, and MENA Workshops Alumni.
