The Russian northeast Siberian expedition (1820–24) is generally associated with Ferdinand von Wrangell. However, although Wrangell was the overall leader of the expedition, it actually consisted of two groups, with Peter Anjou in command of the Ust'-Yansk group. Anjou'sexpeditionnotes, asopposed to Wrangell's, have not been published, and for that reason he is little known. However, the results of his expedition are well comparable to Wrangell's.
