page 325 note 1 “Longyear” is not an official place-name but the name of the airport near Longyearbyen. It is a compromise between the views of the Norwegian authorities and the rules of the International Civil Aviation Organization for the naming of airports. The Norwegian authorities have reserved the right to return to the subject if the use of this name should cause confusion. Ed.
