5 After this project fell through, Joyce seems to have lost sight of the manuscripts. Before Sunrise was listed in the Quinn Catalogue and was sold to a Detroit dealer in 1934. (See John J. Slocum and Herbert Cahoon, A Bibliography of James Joyce 1882–1941, The Soho Bibliographies, v, 150.) Slocum and Cahoon speak of two versions of the Michael Kramer translation. The location of these is unknown.
