8. The Decree substitutes a previous similar one, viz. that of 18 December 1956 (Stb. 1956 No. 627). The latter is now repealed under Article 9 of the present Decree. Whereas the Decree deals with equality between aliens and Dutch nationals, another Decree, of 3 December 1985 (Stb. 1985 No. 632) deals with equality between certain categories of non-residents and residents of the Kingdom, under Articles 57 part (b) and 60 part (b) of the General Old Age Pensions Act.

9. Under Article 1, para. 2 the abode of crew members aboard a ship having its homeport in the Kingdom will not be considered as residence in the Kingdom.
