MATERIALS AND METHODS

All herbarium specimens examined are lodged at the US National Fungus Collection, Beltsville, Maryland (BPI). For microscopic examination the fungi were mounted in lactophenol and water. Measurements were made from lactophenol preparations at 1000× [not 100×] magnification. The 95% confidence intervals were derived from at least 30 observations, and ranges are given in parentheses.

DESCRIPTION OF SPECIES

Leptosphaeria leucadendri Crous & M. E. Palm, Mycol. Res.103: 1299 (1999); as ‘Lectosphaetia’.

Holotypes: Australia: on living leaves of a Leucadendron sp., 8 Mar. 1994, N. Armanious (BPI 802383 A&B, holotypes of L. leucadendri (A) and S. leucadendri (B), respectively).

Pseudocercospora agharkarii (Chidd.) Crous & M. E. Palm, Mycol. Res.103: 1302 (1999); as ‘Pseudocercospoa’.

Cercospora agharkarii Chidd., Curr. Sci.25: 67 (1956); basionym.

Specimen examined [as ‘holotype’]: India: Pollibetta, on leaves of Grevillea robusta, 7 Sep. 1968, G. Rangaswami & V. S. Seshadri (BPI 1103620).
