Pilobolus and lungworm disease affecting elk in Yellowstone National Park

Abstract

Dictyocaulus viviparus and Pilobolus coexist in individual elk of the Yellowstone National Park's northern herd. It is suggested that Pilobolus transfers infective larvae to forage grasses, so spreading the lungworm disease.
