LaB6 powders of a particle size less than 2 μm can readily ge sintered to nearly pore free microstructures, when boron and carbon are used as additives. The microstructure consists of LaB6 B4C and C as seperate, finely divided phases. The preparatton of starting powders, the sintering process, and the resulting microstructures are discussed.
