Abstract

The motion of the crystal-melt interface of silicon has been investigated using molecular dynamics computer simulations. Solidification and melting have been studied for the diamond cubic (111) and (100) interfaces using the Stillinger-Weber interatomic potential for silicon. These results are compared with theory, and also with experimental results.
