Abstract

A brief discussion is presented of some of the characteristics of hardened cement paste (hcp) and hcp in concrete that bear on the measurement of pore size distribution. The postulates underlying several present and potential measurements are discussed individually, and an attempt is made to assess the applicability of each in light of the peculiar characteristics of hcp. Some of the problems inherent in each procedure are briefly described.
