Abstract

The first experimental investigation of the vibrational properties of 1–19 raonolayers of behenic acid deposited on various substrates using a new IR technique : Spectroscopie Phase Modulated Ellipsometry (SPME) is presented. The influence of the cleaning procedure of the substrate is discussed. The preferential tilting direction of the aliphatic chain along the withdrawal direction is confirmed. High sensitivity makes SPME a useful tool to study the structure of more complex organic molecules.
