Abstract

The optical properties of semiconductor nanocrystallites, or small quantum dots, are well understood, but little is known about nanocrystallite networks. Here we report preliminary results on a glassy network of CdSe nanocrystallites connected by molecular bridges. This network has been analyzed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and small angle X-ray scattering to determine its structure, and to see if long range order is present. The effect of nanocrystallite interactions on electron-hole recombination is inferred from characterization by UV-VIS absorption and photoluminescence.
