Amorphous microporous mixed oxides (AMM) are materials characterized by a narrow micropore distribution, high porosity, definable surface polarity and homogeneous elemental distribution (absence of domains). They are prepared by a modified Sol-Gel procedure in a single preparation step. Membranes prepared from these materials are selective heterogeneous catalysts, whose microstructural properties can be adjusted to the reaction conditions. Here it is shown, how the surface polarity of the membrane affects the hydrogenation properties.
