Vibrational Spectra of Oxide Doped Fluorozirconate Glasses
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 25 February 2011
Abstract
Raman, IR transmission, and reflectance spectra have been measured for a series of zirconium fluoride glasses deliberately doped with 0.4, 0.8 and 1.2 mole % lanthanum oxide. The effect of such impurities on the attenuation near the loss minimum in these glasses is discussed. In addition the utilization of Raman and IR spectroscopy to quantify the oxide contamination levels and optical absorption respectively, in heavy metal fluoride glasses is demonstrated.
