Structure and Bond Strength of Cement – Aggregate Interfaces
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 21 February 2011
Abstract
On a series of test specimens made with five kinds of rock and six kinds of cements hydrated between 1 and 8 weeks, the structure of the existing interfacial zone, the cleavage strength and the mechanism of failure were studied. The structure of the interfacial zone of different rockcement combinations was similar but not identical. Significant differences between different rock-cement combinations existed with respect to the measured cleavage strength and mechanism of failure.
